Best St. Patrick's Day Movies

No matter what your background, it's hard not to feel a little bit Irish on Saint Patrick's Day. But if you still need a little nudge to get you in the festive spirit, here are a few movies that are bound to inspire you!
#5. In America
With more
Irish-Americans in the world than there are actual Irish citizens, it's no wonder the tale of the
Irish in America has become so closely linked to St. Patrick's Day. In fact, the world's first
St. Patrick's Day parade was held in
New York City. So it's to New York this movie heads to chart the struggles of a recently arrived Irish family as they to
find their feet in America. While there's no mention of St. Patrick, the film does get to the heart of the Irish
immigrant's experience - and that's well worth celebrating.
#4. Luck of the Irish
When Steven Fitzgerald, a
newspaper reporter from New York, meets a
leprechaun and a beautiful young woman while
traveling in Ireland he can't believe his luck. Steven becomes torn between his old life in New York (complete with
wealthy fiancée) and returning to his Irish roots. This flick has
Little People, Irish-American immigrants and the
green, green grass of Ireland. What more can you ask for?
#3. The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns
Whoopi Goldberg and
Keiran Culkin star in this Hallmark movie set in the
Emerald Isle. In it, an American businessman named Jack discovers that
the cottage he's rented is occupied by a family of
leprechauns. Jack unwittingly is thrown into the middle of a
long-standing feud between the leprechauns and the fairies. His adventures with
the little people are sure to put you in the festive mood!
#.2 The Last Leprechaun
St. Patrick's Day takes on a
sinister new twist in The Last Leprechaun. In it, a brother and sister are sent to live with their father's new fiancée in Ireland where they discover their future
stepmother has dark powers linked to the little people! A great flick for those of you who find the
regular shamrocks and rainbows element of St.Paddy's too cheesy.
#1. Darby O'Gill and the Little People
This classic Irish flick
goes waaaaay back to when Sean Connery
wasn't an old man (you thought he was
hatched that way, didn't you?). In fact, is it wrong to notice that he's actually looking
kind of cute? In the flick, Darby O'Gill is a storyteller who tells tall tales of
leprechauns and banshees. But when Darby actually captures the
King of the Leprechauns, no one will believe him!
