Turn down the music and tone down those dance lights, because there's not enough blood getting through to your brain. DDR, or Dance Dance Revolution, is NOT a sport. I'm still cringing that cheerleading has somehow gained acceptance as a "sport" so I'm definitely drawing the line at DDR.Dance Dance Revolution is a dance video game. Players dance on a computerized metal pad and score points for dancing on squares where two sets of arrows match up. Playing DDR is a good way to get exercise (just like any kind of dancing) and there is a competitive nature to the game, but that does not make the game a sport. If we start to consider a game like Dance Dance Revolution to be a sport, then it's only a matter of time before pinball, virtual skateboarding, and Yu-Gi-Oh are given sport status. Once that happens, it won't be long before some video game nut with calluses on his thumbs, who's finished the 5000th level of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 makes it on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
