X2 Movie Review

Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Cyclops, Mystique and the rest of the mutants are back, and ready to kick butt. X2 is the second X-Men movie and this time, the good and evil mutants are working together. The first X-Men movie started off by introducing a few mutants and bringing the world of Stan Lee and Marvel Comics to the big screen. Now, with X2, they're blowing you out of the water with slick FX, mutants galore, huge action scenes and more!

The Good:

X2's strengths aren't in the plot. They're in the action and the drop-dead, gorgeous special FX. All the top mutants, (Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Magneto, etc.) look like a million bucks. Even the mutants with only a couple of scenes are awesome to look at. X2 really succeeds in bringing the X-Men comic book world to life. They even have references to Dr. Hank McCoy (Beast) and Remy LeBeau (Gambit,) which hints at an X3.

The Bad:

One big jaw-dropping problem with X2 is that the heroes kill people. Not just by accident, either. Wolverine flat-out hacks people up when they get in his way and he isn't the only character who does it! Seeing it on screen is a huge change from the comics and it makes X2 feel really dark.

The Bottom Line:

If you want to enjoy X-Men 2, don't sweat the details about a few scenes or the really dumb thing they do with Cerebro. Just get your friends together, load up on popcorn and watch the mutants go to town!

Just wanted to let u know...

Hi, I was just browsing your site when I noticed something you said in your article about X2. If you haven't picked up a copy of Wolverine, or any of the other comics for that matter, then you wouldn't know this but Wolverine happens to kill a whole lot of ppl along the road to wherever he is going, be it alien, human or mutant. In fact, he does what I think he does in the movie, flat out hacks ppl up. In fact, they do comics with good ol' Wolvie taking a bullet to the noggin and then in the next panel seeing the skin where the bullet hit ripped off and bleeding. You can even see the adamantium skeleton where the bullet hit. The movie fits pretty perfectly with the comic but those who don't read the comic will be suprised to see what a hard case Wolverine has become since the first movie. I actually think it is an improvement! He was really mooshy gushy in the first one! Hardly used his claws at all! Anyway, thanks for listening while I spilled my guts.
