The biggest tournament news right now is the 2002 Magic: The Gathering World Championships in Sydney, Australia. The world championship event is being held at the Hordern Pavilion by Wizards of the Coast - the crazy game people behind Magic: The Gathering, Harry Potter, Pokemon and the new Star Wars card game. The 2002 World Championships tournament is huge and the top winner is going to walk away with $35,000 US to spend on his, or her, fave card game.
The 2002 Magic: The Gathering World Championships start on August 13, 2002 with the pre-match registration and warm-up. The matches start on August 14, 2002 at 8:45am and runs until late Sunday with Booster Draft matches featuring Odyssey, Torment and the new Judgement card set.
