Brandy Gets Her Start

Brandy Rayana Norwood's father is a minister so she grew up singing in church. Hearing Whitney Houston songs on the radio sparked Brandy's interest in pop music.

Brandy's Big Break

In 1993, Brandy landed a record deal with Atlantic Records. The same year, Brandy snagged a supporting role on the ABC TV series, Thea. In 1996, Brandy landed a starring role on the TV sitcom Moesha on UPN, which became a huge hit.
