Each song on Elise’s hit album,Elise Estrada, is produced to radio-friendly perfection—Elise mixes it up with bass-heavy jams like the wobbly testament to love gone wrong, Torture, and slows it down with hooky ballads like her newest single, Crash & Burn. With smooth vocals reminiscent of Janet Jackson and a stage swagger like Beyonce, Elise fills the dance floor with some killer beats. Ix-Nay is the black sheep of the album—it sounds like an off-kilter, sing-songy Gwen Stefani b-side, with Elise advising a friend to ditch her loser boyfriend. Each song manages to cram a few positive messages into four or so minutes of booty-shakin’ bliss—no easy task—and Elise takes her role model status seriously because she may dress like a hottie, but this girl’s all about the self-respect.
