A Little Help From Your Friends

Supportive friends are a great asset.

My friend was having problems with her boyfriend. He broke up with her and he went out with her best friend.

Well, I'm usually the fix-it person with this type of thing so I had an idea to make someone happy. I went up to her and I asked, "Ya know, what's a funny word?"

And she asked, "what?"

And I reply "fork," and I said it in a really weird way so she was really starting to forget about it. And whenever she was looking sad I said "fork" and it still works.

Whaddya think? Is she a cool bud or what? What more can you ask for than a bud that not only notices that you're feeling blue, but tries to help you feel better? It's really not that hard.

Part of being a living, breathing humanoid is our ability to communicate and express our emotions. That starts with knowing what and how you feel. When you are a little bitty baby, you care about one thing and one thing only - yourself. If you are lucky you have a mom and pops that take care of you and give you lots of love. As you get older and more independent you want to do things your own way. Ya know what I'm saying? It's all good cuz that's how we learn.

But sometimes we think that just because we do some things on our own, it means we can do everything on our own. Like we don't need anyone else. Dig me? How many times do you get all mad when your moms or pops asks if you need help with homework, or cleaning your room or something? You're thinking "I don't need them, I can do it."

Listen folks, you need them. They need you. We can all use a little help now and then. There's no shame in that game. Open your eyes - check out your friends, neighbors or parents and be nice. Try and make someone's day better. You'd be surprised what a smile and saying "Have a wonderful day" can do.
