World Environment Day

World Environment Day
Celebrated every year on June 5th, World Environment Day is a United Nations holiday that celebrates Earth and our environment. This year's theme for World Environment Day is " CO2, Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy" and festivities will be held in Wellington, New Zealand.
A Little History
The
United Nations General Assembly established World Environment Day (WED) in 1972. Each year a different country hosts the event, which aims to
create awareness of the environment and encourage the public and world governments to take action to create
positive environmental change.
WED 2008
The theme for the 2008 World Environment Day is CO2, Kick the Habit!
Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Activities will focus on ways of making countries 'carbon neutral', which has to do with limiting
energy usage and emissions.
How Can You Celebrate?
There are a lot of little things you can do to help the environment. The WED web site has 80 ways you can help
reduce your carbon footprint. Check them out
